Think your attic is too awkward for a proper bedroom? The best boho bedroom design rooms I’ve ever saved all started with a sloped ceiling and someone willing to lean into the architecture instead of fighting it. Exposed rafters, raw plaster, a kilim on the floor. That’s the whole formula. What follows are twelve attic … Lire plus
I opened the closet door on a Sunday morning and stood there for a full minute. Eight matching oat-colored fabric bins sat on the shelf above the rod. Below them, 38 garments hung on identical slim velvet hangers, every hook facing the same direction. The floor was clear. It looked like someone had paid real … Lire plus
Most women over 50 who gave up on jeans didn’t actually give up on jeans. They gave up on what they were sold for two decades: the skinny that pulled across the thigh by noon, the full-length straight that puddled on the floor, the mid-rise that gapped at the back waist every time they reached … Lire plus
Two years ago I bought a Pottery Barn slipcovered sofa for $2,399 and a Wayfair coffee table for $189. A few months later I flipped it: Wayfair accent tables on either side, Pottery Barn as the anchor. I wanted to know what the price gap was actually buying, not what the catalog promised. Now I … Lire plus
You book the appointment. You pull up a photo on your phone. The woman in the photo has a shoulder-grazing chop with a soft bend, face-framing pieces, and hair that catches the light just right. You show your stylist. You leave with something that looks almost right and lies flat by noon the next day. … Lire plus
Women with apple figures were told for decades to add volume at the hip. Wear an A-line, the magazines said. Try a pleated skirt. Balance that midsection. And what most of us got was a silhouette that read more like a lampshade than a dress. Stylists who dress women over 60 for a living stopped … Lire plus
You pull the shapewear up, smooth the waistband, and everything looks fine standing in the bedroom. Then you sit down at a restaurant two hours later and the band has rolled into a ridge you can feel through your dress. That was my experience with four brands before I found two that actually work. I … Lire plus
You sit down in the salon chair, glasses on, and a good stylist walks a slow circle before touching your hair. She is not looking at your cut yet. She is looking at your frames: the width across your temples, where the arm presses against your skull, whether the top rim sits level with your … Lire plus
You’re standing in front of the mirror with hair that falls just below your collarbone, and it’s flat by 10am. Blow-drying takes 35 minutes. Your ends look dry no matter what you put on them. Going short sounds obvious. But hair grows roughly half an inch per month, and if you cut to a jaw-length … Lire plus
I had eight products on my bathroom shelf and my skin looked worse than it did at 45. Not dramatically older. Just reactive: tight after cleansing, faintly pink at the cheeks by noon, foundation sitting in every line by 3pm. I tried the French routine the way most Americans do, with real skepticism. But the … Lire plus
