When Saatva Contour5 wins

The Contour5 sells one setting, Medium (5-7/10), and Saatva builds the rest of its story around heat: a CoolVent™ System, a phase-change Lumbar Zone® Matrix, and CertiPUR-US® foams plus GREENGUARD® Gold certification on the product page. Saatva also lists an endorsement from the American Chiropractic Association for this model. It also states better motion isolation and a hypoallergenic all-foam construction.

When Loom & Leaf wins

Loom & Leaf gives you the firmness choice the Contour5 does not: Relaxed Firm (5-7/10) and Firm (8/10) at the same price. Saatva describes it as a deep body-hugging feel, with a breathable organic cotton cover and gel-infused memory foam drilled with micro perforations. If you know you want a firm all-foam mattress — stomach sleepers, or anyone who simply dislikes sink — it is the one to take.

List prices for both, before any sale. The Full is the only size where they differ: $3,019 on the Contour5 against $2,969 on Loom & Leaf. Everywhere else they are identical, and both run Twin through Split King, with a Split Cal King as well.

The Construction, Layer by Layer

Contour5. Saatva describes it as a plush 3″ ultra-premium 5lb memory foam core over a high-density base, with a gel-infused 4lb memory foam layer drilled with airflow channels underneath a patented Lumbar Zone® PCM Matrix. Its cooling story is the CoolVent™ System, which Saatva says absorbs and disperses excess body heat, plus the phase-change material in the lumbar zone. Pressure relief comes from the combination of high-density foams that adapt to body weight and curves, and the whole mattress is built hypoallergenic and all-foam, with CertiPUR-US® foams, GREENGUARD® Gold certification and an endorsement from the American Chiropractic Association published on the product page.

Loom & Leaf. Six layers instead of seven, and no phase-change material. The comfort side is gel-infused memory foam with micro perforations for breathability, under an organic cotton cover that Saatva calls naturally breathable. The lumbar treatment is different in kind: Lumbar Zone® Quilting plus a gel-infused memory foam lumbar crown, where the Contour5 puts a PCM matrix. The core is an ultra-premium 5lb memory foam that Saatva describes as a deep body-hugging feel balanced with support, and the foams are CertiPUR-US® certified. If you want the same body-hugging memory foam but with a firm option under it, this is the one of the two that offers one.

What You Are Actually Choosing

The firmness choice is the real fork. The Contour5 sells one setting, Medium (5-7/10), and Saatva positions it for couples who cannot agree on firmness because there is only one to disagree about. Loom & Leaf sells two — Relaxed Firm (5-7/10) and Firm (8/10) — at the same price, so a stomach sleeper or anyone who dislikes sink can take the Firm without paying for the privilege. That single decision eliminates one of the two mattresses for most buyers before any of the cooling detail matters.

The heat story is the second fork. The Contour5 has a phase-change layer and a vented system; Loom & Leaf has gel foam with micro perforations and an organic cotton cover. Phase-change material works by absorbing heat as it changes state, so its advantage shows up early in the night, while perforations and breathability are about letting heat escape continuously. Neither is measurable here, and Saatva publishes no temperature number for either mattress.

What is identical. Price at Queen, the 365-night trial, the $99 pickup fee, the Friends for Life warranty, free White Glove delivery with in-room setup, CertiPUR-US® foams, and the fact that both are made to order and assembled in the U.S. On those terms the two mattresses are interchangeable; only the feel and the cooling build differ.

Who each one suits. Take the Contour5 if you want a medium memory foam mattress, you sleep warm, and you like the idea of a phase-change lumbar layer — or if you and your partner cannot agree on firmness and would rather not have the argument. Both are delivered by Saatva’s White Glove crew: the mattress is brought into the room, set up, and the old one is removed on request, so nothing is left at the door. Both are made to order, which is why the delivery is scheduled rather than dispatched the next day. Saatva sells the foundation and the adjustable base separately for either model, and the trial and the warranty cover the mattress itself rather than the base under it — if you are replacing a base as well, that is a second purchase, not a second trial.
