They separate on three things you can check before buying: how long you can sleep on the bed before committing, whether the delivery crew sets it up for you, and how many firmness settings are on offer. What is different inside each mattress?

Saatva Classic is a coil mattress with a foam comfort layer sitting on a base of more than 1,000 recycled carbon-steel coils in full size and larger, each triple-tempered, with Lumbar Zone Technology through the middle third of the bed. You pick the height — 11.5″ or 14.5″ — and one of three comfort levels, and Saatva lists CertiPUR-US certified foams and GREENGUARD Gold certification for the finished mattress. It ships only one way: into the room, set up on the base you choose, with the old mattress taken away at no charge.

The WinkBed uses individually wrapped coils under gel-infused foams, with what WinkBeds calls a 3-Step Back-Relief System™ across the centre of the mattress, a Tencel® cover it describes as cool and breathable, and an Extra-Edge™ perimeter built to resist sag and roll-off. It is 13.5″ tall in the standard queen and 14.5″ in the Plus. The company also sells a $125 Frost™ cooling-fabric upgrade, advertised on the product page as sleeping 20% cooler — that is WinkBeds’ own figure for its own fabric, and it is a surface upgrade rather than a different mattress.

Both builds are hybrids doing the same job with the same parts in different proportions: foam on top, steel underneath, a reinforced edge, lumbar attention in the middle. The Saatva’s distinguishing structural fact is the second coil layer and the two heights; the WinkBed’s is the Extra-Edge™ perimeter and the fact that four firmness settings are sold as four separate builds rather than one compromise.

The choice here is about who is in the bed and how the number is stated. WinkBeds sells the Plus as a firmness choice within the WinkBed line. Saatva sells the HD as a separate mattress. How do the trial, warranty and returns compare?

Saatva gives 365 nights on every mattress, charges a $99 processing fee for a pickup, and covers body impressions greater than 1.5″ for the life of the mattress. From year three, repair and re-cover work carries a $149 processing fee, and Saatva offers a Fairness Replacement Option that trades the old mattress for credit instead of waiting on a repair. Delivery, setup and removal of the old mattress are included in the price of the bed.

WinkBeds gives 120 nights, describes the trial as risk-free, and lists free shipping and free returns including pickup. Its Lifetime Limited Warranty runs for as long as the original owner owns and uses the mattress and covers a sag deeper than 1.5″ that is not caused by an improper base — the same threshold Saatva uses, which makes the two warranties directly comparable. What is not included is the setup: mattress setup and removal is an optional add-on priced from $150, and the site is currently advertising 30% off across the mattress range.

Read together, the terms split cleanly. WinkBeds is cheaper to reverse — a free return with free pickup and no fee — and cheaper to buy. Saatva is longer to decide in and includes the labour: the crew carries the mattress in, sets it up and takes the old one away. The warranty threshold is the same on both sides, so the long-term question is not when a defect counts but who pays for the hands that fix it.
