Englander positions it for anyone who loves firm, pressure-relieving support without giving up cool, comfortable sleep, and its hybrid design pairs cooling memory foam with zoned coils for alignment, edge support and undisturbed rest. Couples benefit from the zoned coil system, which Englander says reduces partner disturbance through motion isolation. Shoppers who want a firm feel with a cooling foam layer rather than a pure innerspring will find the construction matches that brief.

It is a good match for sleepers who overheat at night, since the CoolingGel Memory Foam is designed to regulate heat buildup and the stretch-knit zipper cover is finished to boost breathability. It also suits people who sit or sleep near the edge of the bed, because the 630 Edge Zoned Pocketed Coil Support System is built to deliver a stable, edge-to-edge sleep surface. Anyone shopping for an adjustable base will find the Percy Firm compatible with one.

What are the Englander Percy Firm specifications?

The core numbers are straightforward. The Percy Firm is a 10-inch mattress with an overall height listed at 13 1/2 inches plus or minus 1/2 inch, and its comfort level is Firm. The support layer is the 630 Edge Zoned Pocketed Coil Support System, and the comfort layer is CoolingGel Memory Foam. The cover is a premium stretch-knit zipper cover. The mattress carries a 10-Year Non-Prorated Warranty and is adjustable-base friendly.

Specification

Englander Percy Firm

Comfort level

Firm

Profile height

10 inches

Overall height

13 1/2 inches plus or minus 1/2 inch

Comfort layer

CoolingGel Memory Foam

Support system

630 Edge Zoned Pocketed Coil Support System

Cover

Premium stretch-knit zipper cover

Adjustable base

Friendly

Warranty

10-Year Non-Prorated

How does the firm feel translate into sleep?

Englander describes the Percy Firm as engineered for sleepers who need solid support with cooling benefits, and the firm feel is the defining trait. The CoolingGel Memory Foam delivers responsive, self-contouring comfort while regulating heat buildup to promote a cooler, more refreshing rest. In practice, that means the foam gives slightly under the shoulders and hips rather than letting you sink through, which is what keeps spinal alignment intact for back and stomach positions. The firm feel is what relieves pressure points here, not a thick pillow top.

Underneath, the 630 Edge Zoned Pocketed Coil Support System does two jobs. Zoned coils offer personalized support across the surface, and the edge-to-edge design keeps the sleep area stable all the way to the border. Englander also credits the zoned coil layout with motion isolation and reduced partner disturbance, so a restless sleeper on one side should disturb the other side less than on an unzoned coil mattress. The stretch-knit zipper cover adds breathability on top of the cooling foam, which matters for sleepers who run warm.

Who should buy the Percy Firm, and who should not?

Buy the Percy Firm if you sleep on your back or your stomach, want a firm surface with pressure relief, share a bed and care about motion isolation, sleep warm and want cooling memory foam, use or plan to use an adjustable base, and prefer a hybrid build with zoned coils over an all-foam mattress. The combination of a firm feel, CoolingGel Memory Foam and the 630 Edge Zoned Pocketed Coil Support System covers the support, cooling and edge stability that group cares about.

Look elsewhere if you sleep mostly on your side and need deep cushioning at the shoulders and hips, because Englander lists the Percy Firm as Firm and targets it at back or stomach sleepers. Side sleepers who want a softer feel should compare other comfort levels before deciding. Shoppers who want a long home trial period should also weigh what each brand offers, since trial terms differ widely between retailers and the Percy Firm page does not list one.

Still deciding? The Percy Firm is a strong pick for back and stomach sleepers, but a trial period can settle the question of feel.
See the Saatva Classic price in your size →

What does the Percy Firm cost and what comes with it?

Englander lists the Percy Firm in USD, and the price shown on the product page updates with your selected country and currency. Check the current price for your size before ordering, since it varies by configuration. What is fixed is the coverage: the mattress ships with a 10-Year Non-Prorated Warranty, which means the warranty value does not decrease with age over those ten years. The mattress is adjustable-base friendly, so it works with the base you already own or one you buy later.

How does the Percy Firm compare with the Saatva Classic?

The Saatva Classic is the natural comparison for a firm hybrid shopper. It is an innerspring mattress with a 3-inch Euro pillow top, a dual-coil design built from triple-tempered recycled carbon steel coils, and patented Lumbar Zone Technology for spinal alignment. It comes in three comfort levels, and its Firm option is rated 8 out of 10 with a floating-on-top feel aimed at stomach sleepers, back sleepers who want a very firm mattress, and heavier body types around 250 to 300 pounds. The cover is a breathable organic cotton blend treated with Guardin botanical antimicrobial treatment, and the foams are CertiPUR-US certified with GREENGUARD Gold certification. The American Chiropractic Association endorses it.

Feature

Englander Percy Firm

Saatva Classic

Type

Hybrid with cooling memory foam and zoned coils

Innerspring with dual-coil design

Firmness

Firm

Three levels: Plush Soft 3/10, Luxury Firm 5-7/10, Firm 8/10

Height

10 inches, overall 13 1/2 plus or minus 1/2 inch

11.5 or 14.5 inches

Cooling

CoolingGel Memory Foam and stretch-knit cover

Organic cotton cover and dual-coil airflow

Support feature

630 Edge Zoned Pocketed Coil Support System

Lumbar Zone Technology

Home trial

365-night home trial

Warranty

10-Year Non-Prorated

Lifetime warranty

Delivery

Not specified on the Percy Firm page

Free white-glove delivery and old-mattress removal

The choice comes down to feel and coverage. The Percy Firm gives you a single firm configuration with cooling gel foam and zoned coils. The Saatva Classic gives you three comfort levels to pick from, a longer trial, a lifetime warranty, and free white-glove delivery with old-mattress removal included.

What do buyers get with the warranty and trial terms?

The Percy Firm carries a 10-Year Non-Prorated Warranty, which is the coverage Englander states on the product page. Non-prorated means the warranty does not lose value as the mattress ages during its term. Saatva, by contrast, lists a 365-night home trial and a lifetime warranty on the Saatva Classic, along with free white-glove delivery that includes in-room setup and removal of your old mattress at no additional cost.

Our pick

Saatva Classicthe firm hybrid alternative with a 365-night home trial

365-night home trial

Free white-glove delivery and old-mattress removal

Lifetime warranty

Firm comfort level rated 8/10 for stomach and back sleepers

Check today’s Saatva price →

World Sleep Almanac score: 7.6/10

The World Sleep Almanac editorial score is based on stated criteria rather than a physical test. The Percy Firm earns its mark on the strength of a clear firm specification, a named cooling foam, a zoned coil system with edge support, and a 10-Year Non-Prorated Warranty. Englander lists the Percy Firm as Firm and names back or stomach sleepers as the ideal positions. The firm feel is designed to maintain spinal alignment while the CoolingGel Memory Foam relieves pressure points, which is the combination stomach sleepers need to keep the hips from dropping too far into the surface.

Does the Percy Firm sleep cool?

It is built to. The CoolingGel Memory Foam is designed to regulate heat buildup for a cooler, more refreshing rest, and the premium stretch-knit zipper cover is finished to boost breathability. The zoned pocketed coil layer underneath also leaves open space in the mattress rather than a solid foam block.

Can the Percy Firm be used on an adjustable base?

Yes. Englander lists the Percy Firm as adjustable-base friendly, so it works with an adjustable base without special requirements.

How thick is the Englander Percy Firm?

The mattress profile is 10 inches, and Englander lists the overall height at 13 1/2 inches plus or minus 1/2 inch. That overall figure includes the cover and comfort layers above the main profile.

Does the Percy Firm isolate motion from a partner?

Englander states that the 630 Edge Zoned Pocketed Coil Support System provides motion isolation and that zoned coils reduce partner disturbance. The individually wrapped coil design is what supports that claim, since pocketed coils move independently rather than as one connected unit.

What warranty does the Percy Firm carry?

A 10-Year Non-Prorated Warranty, as stated on the Englander product page. Non-prorated coverage means the warranty value does not decline over the ten-year term.

Verdict: The Englander Percy Firm is a focused mattress. It gives back and stomach sleepers a firm, pressure-relieving surface with CoolingGel Memory Foam, zoned coil support, edge-to-edge stability and a breathable cover, all inside a 10-inch hybrid profile backed by a 10-Year Non-Prorated Warranty. Side sleepers who want deep cushioning, and shoppers who insist on a home trial before committing, should compare other options first. For everyone else who wants firm support that stays cool, the Percy Firm does what it sets out to do.

Our pick

Saatva Classicthe firm hybrid alternative with a 365-night home trial

365-night home trial

Free white-glove delivery and old-mattress removal

Lifetime warranty

Firm comfort level rated 8/10 for stomach and back sleepers

Check today’s Saatva price →

Reviewed by the World Sleep Almanac editorial team.
